NAPA Standard Service Interval (S.S.I.) Coolant Products Coolant Test Kits Cooling systems that have been treated with Dry Chemical Additives (DCA) type Supplemental Coolant Additives (SCA) may be checked with these kits. These kits are not suitable for use with extended service, long life or fully formulated anti-freezes, chemistries or antifreeze colors other than traditional green. These kits determine the Dry Chemical Additive, Dry Chemical Additive IV and liquid NAPAKool™ SCA concentrations. They determine if the SCA concentration level is acceptable, or if the SCA concentration is high or low and, if so, to what degree. 3-Way Nitrite/Freeze Point/pH Test Kit Part No. Description 4107 Complete Test Kit w/ 50 Test Strips, Syringe, Chart 4105 48 Test Strips/12 Packs of 4 Test Strips per Pack 4106 Container of 50 Test Strips One of the key ingredients in our SCA products is Sodium Nitrite. The test kits measure the levels of this additive in the coolant. In addition to testing Nitrite levels, our 3-Way test strips also measure the coolant pH and freeze point. To maintain proper system balance and to ensure accurate SCA test results, the antifreeze concentration must be between 40-60%. We recommend a refractometer (4584 or 4585) be used to accurately determine antifreeze concentration. Simple, easy to follow, instructions are included with each test kit. The best time to use a test kit is every 250 hours or every 15,000 miles of operation. Use NAPA’s refractometer 4584 (Fahrenheit) or 4585 (Celsius) to determine Antifreeze concentration in three easy steps. 1. Take sample 2. Place a few drops of sample on the measuring prism and close the cover. 3. Hold up to a light and read the scale. 1050
