NAPA Extended Service Interval (E.S.I.) Coolant Products Today’s cooling system maintenance programs are undergoing some changes from what has been the “traditional” approach. While many fleet maintenance programs still make very efficient and effective use of our Standard Service Interval (S.S.I.) products, which require a service interval of 15,000 miles or 250 hours, some fleets are looking to go to an extended service interval program. To meet the particular needs of an “extended” approach, NAPA Filters offers our Extended Service Interval (E.S.I.) products. These products are specifically designed for a service interval of 150,000 miles 4,000 hours or 1 year. Maintenance personnel now have the options they need to customize their cooling system maintenance procedures to an interval that fits with the rest of their maintenance program. Product Usage and Selection Guide Extended Service Interval (E.S.I.) coolant products are available in both the liquid additive form and the solid, slow additive release form contained in various filter applications. These products are totally compatible with other “extended life/long life” products and with all glycol-based antifreezes, either regular formulas or “fully formatted” types. No NAPA E.S.I. product is designed for use on or in any cooling system that uses only water. Liquid E.S.I. Additive and Additive Free Filters There are two distinctly different ways to use the 1 quart liquid additive, part # 4060 (Please note 4060 is going obsolete and is only available until inventory is depleted) . First, it may be added to a system that has just been drained, cleaned and thoroughly flushed. For a system up to 20 gallons total capacity, 1 quart of E.S.I. additive is all you need. For systems with larger capacities, 1 quart of E.S.I. additive is required for the first 20 gallons and 1 quart per each additional 20 gallon capacity. The fractional breakdown is ½ pint E.S.I. liquid is required per 5 gallons cooling system capacity. The other way to use the E.S.I. liquid additive is to simply pour it into any cooling system just after a normal maintenance interval service has been performed. The amount of E.S.I. liquid to use is the same as that used in a system that been drained and flushed. From this point on, your system should be treated as an extended life system. Regardless of how the E.S.I. liquid additive is added to a particular cooling system, we highly recommend the use of an E.S.I. coolant filter on every system to insure all types of solid contamination are removed from the coolant. Part numbers 4083, 4084, 4086, 4091 and 4092 are additive free filters specifically for use on cooling systems utilizing the E.S.I. liquid additive. If a system does not currently have a filter on it now, our part number 4019 add-in coolant filter mounting base kit can be used to add 4083 and 4084 filters to any system. Extended Service Intervals (E.S.I.) Filters The use of filters to introduce supplement coolant additives (SCAs) to a cooling system has been very popular for a very long time. If your vehicle is currently using a filter for this purpose or if you would like to add a filter to any system, NAPA has the E.S.I. products required for either direct replacement on existing setups or conversion to extended service interval technology. NAPA Extended Service Interval (E.S.I.) filters are designed to last 150,000 miles or 4000 hours or 1 year. Metal component thickness has been increased. Key components have been coated for better corrosion resistance. The media, gaskets, adhesive materials and inner element support springs in these filters are specifically designed to withstand the environment of extended service intervals. NAPA E.S.I. filters with extended service interval additives in them are part numbers 4082, 4085 and 4090. The 4082 can be added to any coolant system by using our part number 4019 add-on coolant filter mounting base kit. 1055
